What Rock Hill Capital buys
Rock Hill Capital is a Houston firm, started in 2007, that backs family-owned and founder-owned industrial businesses, mostly in the South and Southeast. Its target list runs from general industrial and value-added assembly and distribution to infrastructure, power and utility services, energy services, and environmental and waste services. It looks for at least $10 million of revenue, $5 million to $20 million of EBITDA and margins of 10% or better. It will look at companies elsewhere in the US when the fit is unusually strong.
The firm can buy a majority stake in a recapitalization, back a management buyout, help fix a strained balance sheet, or take a minority stake to fund growth, as it did with Weathermatic in December 2025. Owners who stay in the business are expected to reinvest and keep a meaningful stake. Rock Hill describes itself as a hands-on partner that helps with operations, strategy and acquisitions, and its last announced fund, Rock Hill Capital III, closed at $150.6 million.

Greymont’s take
How Rock Hill Capital fits a seller
Rock Hill suits an owner in the South or Southeast who runs an industrial, infrastructure, energy or waste services company, wants help with succession or growth, and plans to keep a real stake. Because the firm asks owners who stay on to reinvest, a sale usually means taking some cash now and holding equity for a second payout later. It can also stay on after a larger investor arrives: when KV Power recapitalized with Warren Equity Partners in 2023, Rock Hill said it would remain involved. The Weathermatic deal shows it will back an owner who is not ready to give up control at all.
Owners should ask which fund the money would come from and how large it is, since the most recent fund Rock Hill has announced closed in 2016, and how long it usually expects to hold a company.
Questions owners ask
Does Rock Hill Capital buy waste and environmental services companies?
Environmental and waste services, and commercial cleaning and waste management, are on its list of target sectors. Its active investments include Recoil Energy Systems, which a 2018 release described as an oilfield tank cleaning, waste fluid handling and disposal business, and it sold SouthWaste Services in 2016.
What size company does Rock Hill look for?
Its published criteria call for revenue of $10 million or more, EBITDA of $5 million to $20 million and an EBITDA margin of at least 10%. Its December 2025 release described the firm as investing in businesses with enterprise values up to $250 million.
Will Rock Hill take a minority stake?
Yes. Minority growth investment is one of the four structures it lists, and in December 2025 it led a minority growth investment in Weathermatic, a Garland, Texas irrigation technology company, with True West Capital Partners investing alongside it.
Does Rock Hill invest outside the South?
It strongly prefers businesses in the South and Southeast, where its industry relationships are deepest, but says it will consider other US regions when a company closely matches its approach and expertise.
