What Peak Rock Capital buys
Peak Rock Capital is based in Austin, Texas, with a second headquarters in London, and manages more than $7 billion across private equity, credit and real estate. Its private equity funds buy control of middle market companies in four areas: consumer and food, software and technology, industrials, and healthcare. It targets businesses worth roughly $50 million to $1.5 billion and commits $30 million to $500 million of its own capital to each one. Typical deals are family or founder businesses taking outside capital for the first time, corporate carve-outs, buyouts and growth deals.
Fund IV closed at its $2.5 billion hard cap in September 2025, and the firm said the new money would go mainly to family and founder owned businesses and carve-outs. A separate credit arm lends $10 million to $100 million or more and also takes non-control positions such as mezzanine debt or preferred equity. It sets no minimum size for add-ons, so a smaller company is most likely to meet Peak Rock as an add-on to a platform such as Rochester Midland or Aegis Software.

Greymont’s take
How Peak Rock Capital fits a seller
Peak Rock suits owners of larger founder or family businesses, worth roughly $50 million or more, in food, software, specialty industrial products or healthcare services. Its recent platform deals follow a pattern: BrightStar Care was bought in partnership with its founder, the co-founders of Aegis Software kept shares and their jobs, and the families behind Dalziel stayed on as shareholders. A sale usually means selling a majority and rolling part of your equity.
Smaller companies more often join a platform it already owns. Rochester Midland alone has bought six businesses since May 2025, mostly in water treatment. Peak Rock also sells steadily, with five exits announced between June 2025 and July 2026, so an owner who rolls equity should ask how long the firm expects to hold and who the likely buyer is. Owners who want to keep control can ask about the credit arm instead.
Questions owners ask
Does Peak Rock buy founder-owned businesses?
Yes. When it closed Fund IV in 2025 it said the fund would focus mainly on family and founder owned companies and carve-outs. Recent examples are Asembia in July 2026, bought with the Irene family, and BrightStar Care in March 2025, bought with its founder.
How big does a company need to be for Peak Rock?
Its private equity page targets enterprise values of about $50 million to $1.5 billion, with $30 million to $500 million of firm capital per deal. It sets no minimum for add-on acquisitions made by companies it already owns.
Can Peak Rock invest without taking control?
Yes, through its credit platform. It offers term loans, asset-backed loans, mezzanine or junior debt and preferred equity, with target sizes of $10 million to $100 million or more and initial investments starting at $5 million.
Does Peak Rock invest outside the US?
Yes. It focuses on North America and Europe and has a London headquarters. In June 2026 it bought Dalziel, a family-owned seasonings and food ingredients maker based in Scotland.
