What ParkerGale buys
ParkerGale is a Chicago private equity firm that buys majority stakes in founder-owned software companies that sell to other businesses. Its target is a profitable company with roughly $10 million to $30 million or more of annual recurring revenue, in vertical or horizontal software, in a market where the firm already has a thesis, an executive it trusts or relevant past experience. It will also back tech-enabled services: in December 2025 it made a growth investment in RedZone Technologies, a managed security and IT services provider in Annapolis, Maryland.
The firm is hands-on after closing. It works on four areas it calls systems, talent, growth and product, and in both of its 2025 deals it brought in a new CEO to work with the existing team. Its companies also buy smaller businesses, as OpenBrand did with Comperemedia in August 2026. Software companies below $10 million of ARR can still meet ParkerGale through its partnership with Big Band Software, which invests in a handful of these smaller businesses.

Greymont’s take
How ParkerGale fits a seller
ParkerGale fits a software founder whose company is profitable, sells to businesses or government agencies, and has reached about $10 million of recurring revenue, and who wants an investor that stays closely involved after the sale. Owners of managed IT and security firms should also pay attention, because ParkerGale said it plans to grow RedZone partly by buying niche service businesses.
Founders should expect a leadership change. In both 2025 deals, e-PlanSoft and RedZone, ParkerGale named a new CEO while crediting the founders, and at e-PlanSoft it quickly added leaders in sales, finance, engineering and product. A founder who wants to keep running the company should ask early what their role would be. Since several past exits were recapitalizations led by larger firms, it is also worth asking how long ParkerGale usually holds a company and how much equity the seller would roll over.
Questions owners ask
What size software company does ParkerGale look for?
Its stated target is a profitable business-to-business software company with roughly $10 million to $30 million or more of annual recurring revenue. Through its partnership with Big Band Software it also backs a few companies with less than $10 million of ARR.
Does ParkerGale invest in managed IT or security service providers?
Yes. In December 2025 it made a growth investment in RedZone Technologies, which provides managed security and IT services to regulated mid-market organizations, and it said it plans to expand RedZone partly through acquisitions.
Does the founder stay on as CEO after ParkerGale invests?
Not always. In its two 2025 investments, e-PlanSoft and RedZone Technologies, ParkerGale brought in a new CEO to lead the next stage while recognizing the founders and leaders who built each company.
Do ParkerGale companies make add-on acquisitions?
Yes. In August 2026 its portfolio company OpenBrand bought Comperemedia, a competitive marketing intelligence business, from Mintel Group. The firm also publishes its own playbook for integrating companies after an add-on.
