What Kingswood Capital Management buys
Kingswood Capital Management is a Los Angeles firm with about $7.1 billion under management after closing its $3.1 billion Fund IV and its first small cap fund, at $900 million, in July 2026. It buys larger middle market companies, generally with at least $100 million of revenue, and invests $30 million to $500 million or more per deal with co-investors. It will back companies that are losing money as well as profitable ones, and it takes control or minority positions with protections, mainly in North America.
Its deals come in four kinds: founder and family-owned companies, corporate carve-outs, turnarounds and take-privates. Its target list runs from food, consumer brands and retail to healthcare, industrials, distribution and business services, plus two niches: the automotive aftermarket and aerospace and defense. Recent founder deals include Soulshine Farms (April 2026), Infotree Global Solutions (February 2025) and Branding Iron Holdings (November 2024). A smaller company would most likely meet Kingswood as an add-on, as United Energy Partners did when it joined One X in 2025.

Greymont’s take
How Kingswood Capital Management fits a seller
Kingswood suits owners of large companies, with at least $100 million in revenue, who want a hands-on operating partner, including owners of businesses that are struggling or not yet profitable. Most small founder-owned companies would only reach it as add-ons. In founder deals it often keeps the family invested: the Lind brothers kept a large stake in Lind Marine through Kingswood's four-year hold before the 2026 sale, and Soulshine Farms' three founders stayed on as shareholders and executives.
Kingswood also tends to place its own operating partners in the chairman's seat, as it did with a protein industry veteran at Branding Iron and again at Soulshine Farms. An owner should ask who will run the company day to day after closing, and whether the new small cap fund means Kingswood will now look at companies below its $100 million revenue floor.
Questions owners ask
How big does a company need to be for Kingswood Capital?
Kingswood's published criteria call for at least $100 million of revenue and an investment of $30 million to $500 million or more. It accepts companies with positive or negative EBITDA.
Does Kingswood buy founder-owned businesses?
Yes. Family and founder-owned businesses are the first transaction type it lists, and recent examples include Soulshine Farms in April 2026, Infotree Global Solutions in February 2025 and Branding Iron Holdings in November 2024.
How much capital does Kingswood manage?
About $7.1 billion, according to its website and brochure, after Fund IV and its first small cap fund closed in July 2026 with roughly $4.0 billion of commitments between them.
