What Colmont Group buys
Colmont Group is a Charlotte family office that invests its own money in family- and founder-owned companies in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. With no fund behind it, it has no date by which it must sell. It usually takes a controlling stake and prefers to keep the existing managers running the business. It has done full sales, partial recapitalizations, phased transitions and corporate carve-outs. Its target areas are industrial products and services, home and facility services, niche manufacturing, and food products and services.
A new platform should have $3 million to $8 million of EBITDA and several years of steady profits. Add-ons can be as small as $500,000 of EBITDA and can be located anywhere. Colmont owns two home services platforms today: Archline Service Partners, six roofing companies across the Carolinas and Georgia, and Southeast Mechanical, ten HVAC, plumbing, electrical and sheet metal businesses in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida. A smaller roofer or HVAC contractor is most likely to meet Colmont as an add-on to one of them.

Greymont’s take
How Colmont Group fits a seller
Colmont fits a Southeast roofing or HVAC owner who wants to sell but keep the company's name and people. Its portfolio page says it has never bought a business and rebranded it, and each Archline and Southeast Mechanical company still trades under its own local name. Because Colmont invests family money with no fund deadline, it says it is not planning around a three-year exit, which matters to an owner who keeps part of the equity.
The deal team is small, two partners and a vice president, and it uses outside capital partners for growth: LO3 Capital put in subordinated debt and equity to fund the Premiere Roofing add-on in March 2025. An owner should ask what the platform's shared back office will change day to day, and what Colmont's long-term plan for the platform is if a sale is not the goal.
Questions owners ask
What size company does Colmont Group buy?
For a new platform it looks for $3 million to $8 million of EBITDA and a consistent record of profits over several years. Add-ons to its existing platforms can start at about $500,000 of EBITDA.
Does Colmont buy roofing and HVAC companies?
Yes. Archline Service Partners, formed in January 2024 when Colmont bought ATD Roofing, is its roofing and exterior services platform, and Southeast Mechanical is its HVAC, plumbing and electrical platform. Both say they are looking for more partner companies.
Will my company keep its name if Colmont buys it?
Colmont says it has never acquired a business and rebranded it. Each company in Archline and Southeast Mechanical keeps its own local brand, and the firm prefers to keep the existing management team in place.
Where does Colmont invest?
New platforms are mainly in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, the region its Charlotte team knows best. Add-ons to its existing platforms have no geographic limit.
