What Wynnchurch Capital buys
Wynnchurch Capital is a private equity firm in Rosemont, Illinois, just outside Chicago. It was founded in 1999 and manages $9.1 billion. It buys control of manufacturing, distribution and industrial services companies in the US and Canada with $100 million to $3 billion of annual revenue, investing $50 million to $750 million of equity per deal, including co-investment. It goes after situations other buyers find complicated: corporate carve-outs, underperforming businesses, take-privates, and family businesses going through a transition.
It invests from Fund VI, which closed at $3.5 billion in January 2024, and counts more than 195 platform and add-on acquisitions since it started. Its companies buy often; in 2026 ORS Nasco, Trimlite, EMS, Principal Industries and M2S Group all announced add-ons. A company below the $100 million revenue mark is most likely to meet Wynnchurch as an add-on to one of these platforms, often in building products, MRO supplies, metals or specialty materials.

Greymont’s take
How Wynnchurch Capital fits a seller
Wynnchurch fits owners of sizable manufacturers and distributors, and owners of businesses that need fixing, because it seeks out turnarounds and messy situations that other buyers avoid. Its February 2026 sale of Team Car Care shows the approach: the Jiffy Lube franchisee was lagging the rest of the network when Wynnchurch bought it and was sold after a rebuild. Founders sell to it too; Wynnchurch bought Principal Industries alongside its founders in November 2024.
For most smaller owners the realistic path is an add-on sale to a platform such as ORS Nasco, Trimlite or EMS. Ask whether the platform plans to keep your brand, location and team. For a platform sale, ask how much equity you can roll and how long Wynnchurch expects to hold, since it announced about a dozen exits between December 2024 and July 2026.
Questions owners ask
How big does a company need to be for Wynnchurch?
For a new platform it targets companies with $100 million to $3 billion of revenue and enterprise values of $100 million to $2.5 billion. Smaller businesses usually fit as add-ons to one of its existing companies.
Does Wynnchurch buy underperforming companies?
Yes. Underperforming businesses are one of the four deal types on its homepage, alongside carve-outs, growth investments and family businesses. When it sold Team Car Care in February 2026, it described the original purchase as a turnaround.
Which industries does Wynnchurch focus on?
Manufacturing, distribution and industrial services. Current holdings include building products companies such as Trimlite and Charter Industries, MRO supplier ORS Nasco, metals distributor EMS and the industrial repair platform Industrial Service Solutions.
Does Wynnchurch invest in Canada?
Yes. Its homepage limits deals to the United States and Canada, and holdings such as Logistik and Alliance Designer Products are based in Quebec.
