What MBN Brands buys

MBN Brands is a small partnership of operators and investors, with offices in New York and Atlanta, that buys and runs franchise businesses. Its partners come from restaurant franchising, investment banking, brand marketing and healthcare growth roles, and its executive chairman is former Xerox chief executive Anne Mulcahy. MBN started in restaurants: its Front Range Holdings group runs more than 200 Burger King, Jimmy John's, KFC and Great American Cookies locations. In 2025 it moved into property services by launching Liberty Restoration Group, a ServiceMaster Restore franchisee, and in 2026 it teamed up with Blue Sage Capital to form Dwell Vacation Rentals, a Casago franchisee on the South Carolina coast.

MBN takes majority stakes, usually next to private equity co-investors, and then keeps buying franchisees inside the same system. It does not publish revenue, EBITDA or check-size limits. A smaller owner is most likely to meet MBN as an add-on: Liberty bought two more ServiceMaster franchisees in 2026, covering Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin, and says it wants more Midwest restoration businesses.

Greymont’s take

How MBN Brands fits a seller

MBN is mainly a fit for owners of franchised businesses, especially ServiceMaster Restore franchisees in the Midwest and multi-unit operators in the restaurant brands it already runs. Because MBN operates as well as invests, a sale usually means joining one of its platforms, which then supplies shared finance, HR and training. In both 2026 Liberty deals the selling owners stayed on to lead their local teams, and Liberty itself was built by merging two franchisees whose leaders became its management.

MBN normally shares ownership with private equity firms such as Petra Capital Partners, SharpVue Capital and Blue Sage Capital. An owner should ask who controls the board, who pays for future acquisitions and when the group expects to sell. It is also worth asking how the franchisor's approval of the transfer will be handled and how long it may take.

Questions owners ask

Does MBN Brands buy restoration companies?

Yes, so far inside the ServiceMaster Restore franchise system. It launched Liberty Restoration Group in May 2025, and Liberty then bought ServiceMaster of Columbia in April 2026 and ServiceMaster Restoration Services by KRS that summer, reaching eight markets in five states.

Is MBN Brands a private equity fund?

No. Its site calls it a partnership that acquires and operates businesses, and its 2026 Dwell announcement described it as an independent sponsor. Each of its recent platforms was backed together with outside investment firms such as Petra Capital Partners, SharpVue Capital and Blue Sage Capital.

Do owners stay on after selling to MBN?

In its recent restoration deals they did. The owners of ServiceMaster Restoration Services by KRS and ServiceMaster of Columbia both stayed involved after joining Liberty, and Liberty's leadership came from the two franchisees it was formed from.
