What Inspirit Equity buys

Inspirit Equity is a Beverly Hills holding company that Charles Gores founded in 2024. It invests its own permanent capital, with no outside limited partners and no fund deadline, so it means to keep the companies it buys instead of selling them on a schedule. It pursues four kinds of deals: family businesses whose owners want the company kept whole, corporate divisions that need to stand on their own, special situations with tangled ownership or capital, and take-privates of public companies. It also holds a few minority and venture stakes, such as Nomi Health and The Boring Company.

It will look at companies worth up to $1 billion and can use flexible structures, but sets no revenue or EBITDA minimum. Its record so far is short: Sizemore, a Georgia janitorial, security and staffing company bought in January 2026; Carlson Building Maintenance, added to Sizemore in July 2026; and the August 2026 carve-out that created Vulcan Government Services. A smaller facility services owner is most likely to meet Inspirit as an add-on to Sizemore, which plans more regional deals.

Greymont’s take

How Inspirit Equity fits a seller

Inspirit fits a family owner who wants to sell control but does not want the business resold in a few years. Because it invests permanent capital, no fund clock forces a later sale, and its first deals kept founders' names and leaders in place: Preston Sizemore still runs Sizemore, and Carlson's owners continue to lead their business as a Sizemore division.

The catch is a short record. Inspirit was founded in 2024 and owns three operating companies, all bought or carved out since January 2026, so there is little history on how it acts in a hard year or what owners who keep a stake end up receiving. Owners should ask how much of the company Inspirit wants to own, whether and at what price it would buy any remaining shares later, and who from the firm will sit on the board.

Questions owners ask

Does Inspirit Equity plan to resell the companies it buys?

It says no. Inspirit invests its own permanent capital with no outside limited partners and no fund timeline, and it describes its aim as building businesses that last rather than preparing them for a sale.

What size company does Inspirit buy?

Its site names enterprise values up to $1 billion and flexible capital structures, but no minimum. Its first platform, Sizemore, is a regional facility services company founded in 1955, and Carlson Building Maintenance joined it as an add-on.

Is Inspirit buying janitorial and facility services companies?

Yes. Sizemore, bought in January 2026, provides janitorial, security and staffing services in the Southeast, and in July 2026 it agreed to buy Minneapolis-based Carlson Building Maintenance. Inspirit said more acquisitions of strong regional operators are planned.
