What Highview Capital buys

Highview Capital is a Los Angeles private equity firm that launched in 2016 with backing from a single family office, Karlin Asset Management. Its money comes from one evergreen source rather than a fund with a fixed life, so it says it can hold companies longer than most buyout firms and move quickly, often closing without a financing condition. It looks for middle market companies at a turning point: family or founder-owned businesses that want help improving results, pieces of larger corporations being sold off, fragmented industries ready for a roll-up, and companies working through financial or operating trouble.

Its published range is $5 million to $50 million of EBITDA and $50 million to $500 million of revenue, with $20 million to $125 million of equity per deal and a sweet spot of $25 million to $75 million, in North America. It can buy control or take a minority stake. Smaller owners are most likely to meet Highview as an add-on to a current holding such as B&R Auto, GS Foods, National Fire & Safety or Safety Marking.

Greymont’s take

How Highview Capital fits a seller

Highview suits the owner of a business with at least $5 million of EBITDA who wants a long-term partner or needs a quick, certain close. Its single source of capital means no fund deadline, and it offers both majority and minority deals, which gives a founder some choice about how much to sell. It also takes on companies in difficulty, so it can be an option for a business other buyers have passed on.

Smaller companies usually come in through its platforms, and founders often stay. When Straight Line Industries joined Safety Marking in May 2025, its founder kept running daily operations and stayed an owner of the combined business. Owners should ask which operating partners will work with them after closing, and how Highview's open-ended holding periods affect the timing of any payout on equity they roll over.

Questions owners ask

What size companies does Highview Capital invest in?

Its criteria page lists $5 million to $50 million of EBITDA, $50 million to $500 million of revenue and enterprise values of $50 million to $350 million, with $20 million to $125 million of equity per deal.

Will Highview Capital take a minority stake?

Yes. For family and founder-owned businesses, its criteria page says it can be either a majority owner or a minority investment partner, depending on what the owners need.

Does Highview Capital have a deadline to sell its companies?

Highview says it invests evergreen capital from a single family office and makes long-term investments without set exit timeframes, so it can hold companies longer than many private equity firms.

Does Highview Capital buy auto recyclers?

Through B&R Auto, an Oregon-based recycled auto parts network it backed in June 2023, Highview added Marler Auto Supply in Idaho in January 2025 and Highway 64 Truck and Auto Salvage in New Mexico in February 2025.
