What Crescent Peak buys

Crescent Peak is a Charlotte, North Carolina investment group that calls itself a multi-family office and holding company run by operators and advisors. It buys into family-owned companies that have lasted for decades, with $10 million to more than $100 million of revenue, steady profits and leaders who plan to stay. It offers majority recapitalizations, management buyouts and growth capital, and says it holds companies for the long run rather than buying to resell. Its target areas are manufacturing and industrial services, construction services, business and government services, aerospace and defense, construction technology and cybersecurity.

In practice most of its companies are infrastructure contractors. It owns two civil construction platforms it calls Project Hammer (Mid-Atlantic, May 2026) and Project RAM (Southwest, with Acacia Partners). With FVLCRUM Funds, which holds control, it backs Peak Underground, a Southeast underground utility group built from Federal EC, Cinch Underground and Utility Asset Management. It also holds MAD20, a cybersecurity training company. A smaller pipe, utility or paving contractor could meet Crescent Peak as an add-on to one of these groups.

Greymont’s take

How Crescent Peak fits a seller

Crescent Peak is a natural fit for owners of family-run civil, paving, pipe rehabilitation or underground utility contractors in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic or Southwest. It says it does not buy companies in order to sell them, and in the July 2026 Utility Asset Management deal the founder stayed on to keep customer relationships and daily operations steady. Its advisory bench includes a surety executive, which can help contractors that depend on bonding capacity.

Owners should ask who will actually control the company after closing. In the Peak Underground deals FVLCRUM Funds holds the controlling interest, and HCAP Partners also put money into Federal EC in November 2025, so a seller there joins a group with several investors and their own timelines. It is worth asking how Crescent Peak's long-hold approach lines up with partners that invest from funds.

Questions owners ask

What size companies does Crescent Peak invest in?

Its criteria call for family-owned businesses with $10 million to more than $100 million of annual revenue, steady profits and strong cash flow. It does not publish an EBITDA range or a check size.

It says it buys businesses to grow and keep them, and its portfolio page describes a long-hold approach built around existing management. Its one disclosed exit, IRIS Solutions, was sold to Anatomy IT in May 2023.

What has Crescent Peak bought recently?

In May 2026 it closed a platform investment in Project Hammer, a Mid-Atlantic civil construction firm. Its Peak Underground platform with FVLCRUM Funds added Cinch Underground in May 2026 and Utility Asset Management in July 2026.

It calls itself a multi-family office of operators and advisors, and its site describes a privately owned holding company that manages its own and affiliated businesses. It does not describe a committed fund.
