What L Catterton buys
L Catterton is a Greenwich, Connecticut firm, founded in 1989, that invests only in consumer businesses. It manages about $40 billion worldwide; this profile covers its North American buyout and growth investing. The Flagship Buyout funds put roughly $250 million to $500 million or more of equity into each deal, usually for control of established brands and consumer service companies such as Good Culture and [solidcore]. A smaller Middle Market strategy also takes control positions, as with L.A.B. Golf in 2025.
The Growth funds invest $10 million to $100 million, often as a minority partner in a fast-growing brand, as with REMEDY, RŌZ and Smash Foods in 2026. L Catterton does not publish revenue or EBITDA minimums. Its categories run from food, beauty and fitness to restaurants, pet care, fertility clinics and home services. A smaller company is most likely to meet L Catterton through a Growth round, or by joining a platform it owns that buys smaller operators, such as Master Trades Group in plumbing and HVAC or Alliance Animal Health in veterinary care.

Greymont’s take
How L Catterton fits a seller
L Catterton suits founders of consumer brands and consumer service businesses that are growing fast and want a partner who knows their category well. Founders who want to keep control can take a Growth investment instead of selling: RŌZ took a significant minority investment in June 2026, and the Rhoback founders kept control when CHAMP invested that same month. Larger deals go to the Flagship funds, which often invest alongside other firms, as in the Flexjet and US Fertility deals. Owners of a plumbing, HVAC or veterinary business are more likely to deal with an L Catterton platform, such as Master Trades Group or Alliance Animal Health, than with the firm itself.
Before signing, an owner should ask which L Catterton fund is investing, whether it wants a majority or a minority stake, and how long it plans to hold. Its agreement to sell Thorne came less than three years after it invested.
Questions owners ask
How much does L Catterton invest in a company?
Its Flagship Buyout strategy targets equity investments of about $250 million to $500 million or more, while its Growth strategy invests $10 million to $100 million. Across all of its funds, the firm says it can invest anywhere from $5 million to $5 billion.
Will L Catterton take a minority stake?
Yes. Its Growth funds often invest as a minority partner. In 2026 it led a Series A minority round for REMEDY, made a significant minority investment in RŌZ, and backed Rhoback through CHAMP while the founders kept control.
Does L Catterton invest in service businesses as well as brands?
Yes. Besides consumer brands, it owns service companies such as US Fertility, which it backed with Amulet Capital Partners in November 2025, the veterinary group Alliance Animal Health and the plumbing and HVAC platform Master Trades Group.
What has L Catterton sold recently?
In August 2026 it agreed to sell Thorne, the supplement and wellness company it invested in during October 2023, to Procter & Gamble for $3.8 billion. The sale is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
